Located in the thick of the serene hills of Champawat, the residence is visualised to synchronise practical needs and an interconnection with nature.
The architectural approach focuses on the site’s most alluring asset: the panoramic view of the expanse of hills and fields. The facade embraces large fenestrations and screening elements which seamlessly integrate the visual and the verdant surroundings, and openness and enclosure.
The balcony, generously proportioned, simply furnished and oriented to soak in uninterrupted views, reflectively extends the interior. The breathtaking hill view is amplified through the use of exposed brick, lime-washed concrete and potted tropical plants.
The staircase, unlike the convention, is reimagined as a sculptural centerpiece that elevates the spatial experience. Bathed in natural light which filters through the perforated concrete walls and vertical fenestration, it transforms circulation into an experience of light and movement. The green railings juxtapose raw concrete and textured block walls, offering a vibrant pop of colour that breaks the monotony and infuses the space with warmth and vibrancy.
Balancing restraint and expression, the residence embodies a quiet modernity rooted in context—a home that feels both grounded in its setting and elevated in its design intent.
